[Day 1] Vientiane City Tour
Meals: N/A | Accommodation: N/A

You'll be picked up at your hotel and start to explore Vientiane, the city of the moon. It's an ancient city, situated on the bend on the left bank of the Mekong, the largest city and capital of Laos.
Today, you will visit some of Vientaine historic sites such as the infamous Wat Sisaket, the oldest and only temple that survived from the Siamese war in 1828. This is a wonderful Buddhism museums that displays more than 8000 Buddha statues. We continue with Wat Ho Prakeo, the former home-temple of the Emerald Buddha statue and discover the collection of Buddha statues, antiques and all artifacts found in and around Vientiane. Last but not least is the visit to Vientiane landmark, the golden That Luang Stupa. This is the single most important monument in Laos that was built to cover the original small stupa containing a piece of the chest bone of Buddha.

At the end of the day, we visit a weaving studio managed by Mrs. Carol Cassidy. She is an American who arrived in Vientiane in 1989 as part of a United Nations project to promote traditional weaving. Carol remained in Laos and formed the Lao Textiles Studio that today employs over 40 weavers creating natural dyed, woven silk pieces reflecting traditional Lao design reinterpreted.
