A full day dedicated to adventure sites around Luang Prabang: trekking through lush forest and rice fields, climbing to explore the hidden Pha Long cave, then visit Pak Ou caves which remain an important place for all Lao pilgrims. We will also have some time for a kayaking trip on Mekong river to a wine-making village.

ITINERARY

[Day 1] Luang Prabang Trekking & Kayaking Excursion

We depart from Luang Prabang and drive to the trekking starting point at Ban Vang Lae of Lao Leu village. From here we take the fishing boat to cross the Nam Ou River and trek through the growing forest and rice field. We climb to a hidden Pha Long Cave which was used as a bomb shelter during the Second Indochina War. We then continue to Ban Kok on the Mekong River for picnic lunch with your guide. After lunch, we cross the Mekong River over to Muang Keo village. We continue trekking through the forest to the Pak Ou Cave, where hundreds of gilded and wooden Buddha statues are housed inside a towering limestone cliff. From here, we get on a kayaking trip to Ban Xang Hai, a Lao wine making village. Your driver is waiting here to take you back to Luang Prabang.
