ITINERARY

[Day 1] Luang Prabang – Hill Tribes Villages

We greet the day by taking a drive 15 km out of Luang Prabang to Elephant Camp. There are great opportunities to learn about this ecotourism and conservation program that cares for elephants while giving local people employment as mahout. Afterwards, we continue to visit Ban Nanyang 125km on route 13 to visit minorities of Lu people, original from Yunan China dating back the late 18th century. We walk to the village of 500 inhabitants where they growing their own cotton and each household have 2-3 weaving looms underneath the house on stilts. This Lu village has their own weaving style and they make special table cloth, wall hanging, scarf...etc. We spend a few hours here strolling from home to home and interact with local people to learn about their tradition. We will enjoy our boxed lunch with one of the family and opportunity to interact with the local villagers to understand their effort to preserve the traditional craft over the generations! On the way back, we can make some stops en route for concerning visit to a local poor school to help Laos kids with some donations.
