[Day 1] Luang Prabang – Pak Ou CavesMeals: Lunch | Accommodation: N/A
You’ll be picked up at your hotel and drive overland along the Mekong River bank to visit the mysterious Pak Ou Caves. On arrival at the river T-junction, you will board the local long-tail boat to cross the river to see the cave in the side of a lime stone cliff, opposite the mouth of the Mekong and Nam Ou rivers. The sanctuaries at Pak Ou cave consist of two large caves, both repositories for thousands of Buddha images, which range from mere centimeter to two meters in height. En route, Lao typical villages are barely visible behind a screen of foliage. Slender canoes bobbing by the shore and bamboo poles and floats mark the location of nets and fish traps. Your lunch is at local restaurant overlooking the Mekong. After lunch, we say goodbye to the village and cruise downstream for a 02 hours on the Mekong River. We will also spend some times to visit Ban Muangkeo where locals collecting river-weed, making one of the most distinctive snacks of Luang Prabang. We return to Luang Prabang by the same boat, continue by car to visit Ban Xangkhong, the well-known village for its wood paper making and also Lao silk weavings with natural dyes, where you can do shopping there, then transfer back to your hotel for a free evening on your own.
